The wedding of Charlie Payne (farmer from Chapel Brampton) and Nellie Payne with Teddy Wykes (of Home Farm, Spratton) on the right. All the ladies are wearing the fashionable shorter hemlines, pale stockings and curved heels.
Mary first married Putnam (fishmonger in Northampton). When he died, she re-married Holt, and they lived in the Manor House in Manor Rd, in which he stayed living after her death until he died c. 1998 when the house was sold. The bridesmaid on the left is Frances Rosa Gilby.
Jillian Green arrives with her father Leslie at the Baptist Chapel. The bridegroom, David Billingham, was a member of the Chapel, and organised signatures from the members so that the wedding could take place - the Chapel was not 'authorised' for weddings, and this is possibly the only wedding ever to have taken place there.
