Lee Family Children c 1908.
A photograph of members of the Lee family of Spratton all of the subjects being daughters of William Lee, b. Spratton 1867 and Elizabeth (nee Griffin), b. Blisworth 1862; all were born and brought up in Spratton. This has to rank as my favourite photograph from the Lee side of the family.
Left to right:
-
Sarah Annie (b. 1897, d. Maghull, Lancashire 1927), unmarried and subject of a photograph on here a few weeks back;
-
Mabel Maria (b. 1895, d. Derby, 1977), married twice, two children, and lived most of her adult life in Derby, after spending time in service in London (my grandmother);
-
Emma (b. 1903, d. Willington, Derbyshire, 1986), married, two step-children, and lived most of her adult life in Derby and Willington;
-
Rebecca Elizabeth, always known as 'Liz', (b. 1892, d. Daventry, 1976), married, two children and moved to Flore with her husband after having spent a lengthy time in service in Northampton;
-
Lillian Mary (b. 1899, d. Isleworth, Middlesex, 1920), unmarried and subject of a photograph on here a couple of weeks back.
Other members of the family not shown were half-brother William John Griffin, always known as 'Jack', (b. Blisworth 1881, d. Spratton early 1960s, we think); George Lee (b. Blisworth 1891, d. Northampton 1892, just 4 months of age) and Annie Lee (b. Spratton 1900, d. Spratton 1902, aged about 18 months).
Due to the lack of surviving males in the family, the direct Lee line died out in Spratton when father, William, died in 1939, although the Griffins remained in and around Spratton for many more years after that.
Photograph taken somewhere in Spratton (possibly near the King's Head), probably late 1904 or early 1905. All in Sunday best?
