A post enclosure map of Spratton shows "Martin`s Close", 11 acres,arable. This land lies adjacent to the A 50, north of Spratton village. Spratton features in account books as a collecting point for droves of cattle. Dealers held grazing land near village, where they held cattle in low price periods. [4, 5]
