- Convicted 2 Jan 1840 Northampton Sessions for stealing a silver caddy and spoon from the house of William Lantsbury. Witnesses or mentioned at the trial included Mercy Healy, Andrew Pearson, Mr. Bunting, Mr. Bosworth, William Holt, Mrs Ann Botterill, Hannah Hartley, William White, John Horeland.
(He had received 12 months on a prior conviction for horse stealing but been discharged on one for Highway Robbery). Sentenced to 15 yearsTransportation, embarked 5 Sep 1840 arriving Hobart Tasmania 5 Feb 1841. In various scrapes until receipt of Conditional Pardon 1852. Married Mary Ann Harriman 9 Feb 1852 in Toowoomba, Queensland with whom he had eight children and owned a farm.
His Great Grandaughter, Elizabeth Binns lives still in Queensland and has contributed most interesting documentation of his career. [1, 3]
