Mr. Farmer of Creaton re-thatching Home Farm. All the old thatch was completely removed, and the bottom layers were considered to have been on the house for some 250 years. Instead of straw (life about 25 years), reed (life about 75 years) from Poland was used.
Stone House, the corner of Brixworth Road and Yew Tree Lane, being re-thatched with traditional Long Straw. The work was being carried out by Roger Scanlon, in the red top, who lives in the village.
1930s - Bert Wykes outside Harris' Bakery at the Brixworth Road end of Manor Road opposite the Kings Head car park. It is known that John James Muggleton had, by 1901, taken over William Johnson's bakehouse here. By 1927, Thomas Harris was the baker. It closed in 1951.
