St Andrew's Church Clock Restoration.
St Andrew's Church clock on the church tower was restored in June 2020. The work was done by Wayne Francis of Clockwise Restorations from Lincolnshire. Here is a picture of the clock face on the West wall of the tower before restoration. The first picture of the internal mechanism shows the maker's name: J W Benson, Ludgate Hill, London. The second image shows the label “Clockmaker to the Queen & Prince of Wales”. There is also a block of wood with “Do not turn clock backwards” written on it! Bill Blowfield phoned Enid Jarvis to say they have found an 18th century clock mechanism behind part of the clock with dates and churchwardens' names scratched into them. She has asked him to write up the findings for the archives, as it looks as if the clock is much older than anything we have a record of. The restorer is Wayne Francis of Clockwise Restorations:
