Devon Malcolm, who lives in Spratton, bowling at the Oval for England in a one day international against New Zealand. He was 'Man of the Match' for his performance.
He played for England between 1989 and 1997, and took 128 wickets. He played for Derbyshire from 1984 - 1997, Northamptonshire from 1998 - 2000 and Leicestershire from 2001 - 2003, and was Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1995.
Devon holds a number of cricketing records, the most impressive being his total of 9 wickets for 57 runs in one innings at the Oval in 1994 against South Africa - the sixth best bowling figure in cricket history, but the record for a 'quick' bowler (faster than 'fast').
