Vallance Jupp on the left goes out to open the batting for Northampton with Woolley, with the old stand of the Northampton ground in the background. He played for England from 1921 - 1928, Sussex from 1909 - 1922, the MCC from 1923 - 1933, and for Northampton from 1923 - 1938 (which he captained from 1927 - 1931). He was Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1928.
He moved to Yew Tree Lane, Spratton when he retired from cricket and opened a sports shop in St. Giles Street in Northampton. He donated equipment and time and energy to getting the Cricket team going again after the War. His stepson, Bill McColl was a fine amateur cricketer who played for several years for Spratton.
